Personal profile: Marley Large

Marley is a graduate of the University of Tasmania. She has travelled widely in Australia and overseas and particularly enjoys visiting museums and galleries to understand the history of her various destinations through both national and local art. Books have been the central focus of her career, being employed for some years by the State Library of Tasmania and later by a local bookseller as the literature and history book buyer.

While antiquarian books also played a part later in her career, history is her passion and it is in this field that Marley has been able to serve the Royal Society. In 2019 she presented a lecture to the Royal Society of Tasmania during it’s 175th Anniversary celebrations entitled “Snapshots of the last 175 years”. Marley is currently serving on a number of committees with the Royal Society, having completed one research project and  highly involved with another for the past year two years.
