Awards and Bursaries

Introduction

The Royal Society of Tasmania celebrates excellence in research, scholarship and creative practice across a wide range of disciplines. Its awards portfolio spans early‑career to senior researchers and honours contributions in science, history, the arts and humanities.

Recipients are not only recognised publicly but also invited to deliver prestigious lectures and, in some cases, receive grants or honorary membership. Being chosen for one of these medals is therefore both a mark of high distinction and an opportunity to share one’s work with Tasmania’s scholarly community.

Acknowledgement of Country

The Royal Society of Tasmania acknowledges, with deep respect, the traditional owners of this land, and the ongoing custodianship of the Aboriginal people of Tasmania. The Society pays respect to Elders past, present and emerging. We acknowledge that Tasmanian Aboriginal Peoples have survived severe and unjust impacts resulting from invasion and dispossession of their Country. As an institution dedicated to the advancement of knowledge, the Royal Society of Tasmania recognises Aboriginal cultural knowledge and practices and seeks to respect and honour these traditions and the deep understanding they represent.
