Mary Koolhof OAM

It is a great pleasure to acknowledge the work of Mary Koolhof OAM and to congratulate her on her inclusion in the 2025 King’s Birthday Honour list.

Mary Koolhof OAM.

Mary’s professional career in education has been defined by her commitment to fostering learning, inclusion, and community engagement. Her influence extends well beyond the classroom, with a legacy that includes leadership roles in Tasmania’s education sector and professional bodies.

As a councillor and former president of the Royal Society of Tasmania, Mary Koolhof’s most significant contributions has been her advocacy for reconciliation and respect for Tasmanian Aboriginal people and her continued role fostering community dialogue.

During her tenure as president of the Royal Society of Tasmania, she oversaw the Society’s formal apology to Tasmanian Aboriginal people for past injustices and helped lead the Society’s ongoing commitment to building a more inclusive and respectful future. Mary has been a tireless worker and advocate for the Royal Society of Tasmania and we acknowledge her dedication and commitment to our Society in this recognition of Medal of the Order of Australia.
