DINOSAUR PICNIC

Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens

Saturday 10 November 2018, 11.00-2.00pm

An invitation to a picnic with Dinosaurs in the Botanical Gardens, Hobart.

A free event for the whole family sponsored by the Royal Society of Tasmania and Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens.

Bring your own picnic lunch or buy from the on-site vans. We suggest you bring a picnic rug.

Dr Karin Orth from Earth Sciences at the University of Tasmania will give talks on on dinosaurs and give us a timeline through the ages with fossil samples from each era.

Our Celebrity T-Rex and Utahraptor dinosaurs will make appearances throughout the day (they have already been spotted in downtown Hobart Town visiting the Museum and at the University and they are even doing TV adverts for Cripps)

The Royal Tasmanian Botantical Gardens will present talks on the plants from the Jurassic dinosaur age that grow in the gardens, such as the Wollemi pine (Wollemia nobilis) and Tasmania conifer (Diselma archeri).

There will be plenty of activities for children, including digging for fossils in the dinosaur dig sandpit, a search for hidden dinosaurs with a dinosaur spotting certificate and hunting licence, a dinosaur walk, a name-the-dinosaur competition, dinosaur face making and Dino showbags with dinosaur toys, sweets, games and colouring-in dinosaurs.

Times for dinosaur appearances and talks:

Talks – 11.25, 12.20, 1.20

Dinosaurs – 12.00, 1.00, 2.00
