Annual Christmas Dinner and Lecture

Summary

 

 The President and Council of the Royal Society of Tasmania warmly invite members and guests to attend the 2025 Christmas Dinner on Thursday, 4 December 2025 at 6 pm in The Pickled Pear, the University Club, 38a Dobson Road, UTas. Located opposite the Engineering Faculty – ample parking, disability parking and access.

Members and guests are requested to be seated by 5:45 pm.

Our Guest Speaker is Dr Danielle Wood, a Vogel Literary Prize winner. Danielle is a Senior Lecturer in English in the School of Humanities UTas, and a well-known author and commentator on human-social issues. Danielle’s lecture will explore the words we’ve used, loved, rejuvenated and redefined in 2025. This will be followed by a delicious two-course meal ($80 per member and $85 per guest).

On the night, make your selection of either Fish of the Day with Paris mash and seasonal vegetables, or Roast Turkey, Ham, Cumberland Sauce and seasonal vegetables. A vegetarian option will be available. Followed by pannacotta or crumble.

The evening will also include a fun silent and also a ‘live’ auction of collectables and objets d’art.
